Welcome to NewStartz
There are lots of CV writing companies out there. What makes NewStartz different? Well, it’s just me and I want to help. I particularly want to help those of you who have been in one role a long time and have now chosen, or are being forced to move on. I want to help those of you returning to the workforce after Maternity/Paternity leave or long-term absence. I want to help those of you starting out on your career journeys, as well as anyone who just wants an up-to-date CV that reflects who they are and what they can offer! All of you have a skill set which you might not be able to identify, but I can help you to do that.
If you’ve made it to this page there is a good chance that you are looking for some help with your career, so I felt it was important to tell you a little about myself, so you know that you are in safe hands.
I started my career as a Beauty Therapist, working in salons and running my own business, before then going into teaching Beauty and Holistic Therapies. My teaching career went from strength-to-strength and I loved being able to be a part of somebody’s journey, from the first day at college to fully qualified therapist. I met an old student of mine recently who thanked me for making her who she was; I didn’t, she did that, but the impact of that comment on me was huge.
In 1999 I joined Virgin Atlantic Airways as Training Manager for the Hair and Beauty department, Virgin Touch. At the time, Virgin offered complementary beauty treatments via its innovative In-flight Beauty Therapy service, it had salons in both its Heathrow and Gatwick Clubhouses and 2 staff salons at the Head Offices, as well as being renowned for the professional standards of grooming showcased by all Cabin Crew. I went on to head up the department and after 10 wonderful years, sadly had to say goodbye after the In-flight Beauty Therapy service was disestablished.
That was my first taste of redundancy. However, as hard as it was, I realised quite quickly that I had a great skill set and an even greater determination to succeed! There is always something else out there and I went on to manage Spas, set up training Academies and work with some incredible Beauty brands, before then returning to Aviation as Base Manager for Tui. I was responsible for the largest base in Europe and managed over 600 Cabin Crew and staff.
And here I am now, another redundancy down, but with still the same passion as I always have done, except this time I’m using it to help you. Throughout my career I have been heavily involved in recruitment and have screened literally hundreds of CVs. I have seen well written ones and some… not so well written ones. I understand how hard it can be to sell yourself on a piece of paper, but that’s why I’m here, to show you how to make your talents shine!
Opportunities are out there; change can sometimes be a good thing. Whether your journey has just begun or you can see your final destination, I’ll work with you all the way to ensure you get there. You can do this!
